Socket Preservation
Occasionally implants can be placed immediately following the extraction of a tooth, but if this is not possible the amount of bone available must be evaluated.
Socket preservation is a method of saving bone in an area that a tooth has been extracted to allow for a dental implant to be placed in the future.
If you are in need of an extraction, and think you may wish to have a dental implant in the future, be sure to ask your dentist about socket preservation prior to the extraction procedure.
